After you copy the promotion code, you can simply paste it in the checkout page here. (Just right below the Total amount) See the red arrow position.
After you enter the right Promotion code, you will see the discount details and the total amount will be reduced.
All the promotion code I posted on hotelpromobook.com, I have tested it. Before you enter the promotion code, make sure you have read my post about the minimum payment requirement, travel period,expire date and website geolocation requried. Some offers may only applicable to UK hotels.com so you must visit uk.hotels.com to use the code.
How to change geolocation of hotels.com website ?
At the top of Hotels.com website, you will see a flag here, the flag means the geolocation of the website. For example if the promotion code is only offer to UK Hotels.com, you would need to change the geolocation here.
After that , select the geolocation you like to change. (See below)
Do the same with the currency setting. From my personal experience, some promotion codes allow you to pay in any currency but some are not. It depends on the specific promotion code. You can always try switch to your home currency before you make a payment.
Hotel exclusion list
The other common reason the promotion code is not working is that some hotels are on the exclusion list. Below are the hotels on the exclusion list, make sure you are not booking these hotels when you using the promotion code. (Most of them are in the 5 stars hotel chain).
