If you just want to take advantages of this promotion, you can sort by price to search the cheapest hotel. There is no minimum spend requirement for the first 1,000 bonus miles. I tried to search the cheapest hotel in Hong Kong and it is HK$850(excluding tax) per night. So can earn 1,500 Asia Miles (500 basic miles and 1,000 sign up bonus miles) for just paying HK$946(including tax). It is costing less than HK$1 per miles.
My Conclusion
If you use hotelscombined.com to compare the room rate on Rocketmiles , you easily find there are cheap rate on other websites. So most of the time you have to do your math if you decide to book your stay on Rocketmiles website. It is not the cheapest rate but consider you are paying extra for the miles, sometimes it may still worth it.
